HG Christie and Abaco Agents enjoy an enviable life in the Abacos, and they often like to spice it up with whimsy and challenge! Whether it’s racing in the Turtle Trot, sailing in Regatta Time Abaco or…launching themselves down the biggest hill on Hope Town in a homemade “box cart”, you can find our HGC Team, along with those who reside or visit Hope Town ‘livin’ the life’!
Check out the spirit of this family funfest held annually over the American Thanksgiving weekend: Not for the faint of heart!
So join Hope Town residents, returning seasonal residents and visitors alike as they rally together for holiday celebrations and community fellowship. Young and old will gather together on “The Big Hill” to strut their stuff in creative costumes and put their trust in 4-wheeled homespun contraptions, aka ‘box carts’.

- What: Throw yourself down Big Hill in your homemade box cart.
- Where: Queens Highway, Big Hill, Hope Town, Abaco
- When: Saturday November 29th, 2014 @ 12:00 Noon
- Who: Open to all. Past ages have ranged from 10 to 75 years old. Two divisions – adult and children.
- How far: 800 metres
- How fast!?: Speeds up to 25mph! Can you beat the record?
As with many of the fun family events that take place in this idyllic Bahamian island, the event relies on a spirited team of volunteers and all proceeds go to support youth activities and sorts such as Youth Sailing and swim programs.
